Real-Time Economy: proposed vision and roadmap for the Baltic Sea region

The new report presents a compelling vision for a Real-Time Economy in the Baltic and Nordic countries which is underpinned by seamless data space interoperability and efficient data management governance. This vision promises to create a simpler business environment that is not only more productive but also healthier, easily operated and more sustainable.

The report “Harmonised vision and a roadmap for the development of the RTE Economy in the BSR” presents the roadmap for the Baltic Sea region for the years 2023-2028.
 

The proposed vision includes:

  • Data space interoperability and governance: Unify data sharing and develop common standards for seamless exchange.
  • Empowerment and innovation of businesses: Encourage sustainable practices and provide access to data and tools for competitiveness.
  • Advanced technologies and automation: Integrate AI and IoT to enhance productivity and decision-making.
  • Secure data and ownership: Ensure trust and protect sensitive information.
  • Government facilitation and impact measurement: Streamline administrative processes and promote the use of standardized and digitized information formats to facilitate transparent and automated operations of companies across national borders.

Roadmap for implementing the vision:

  • Establish and implement the strategic initiative – 2024
  • Define and improve infrastructure and enable data space interoperability – 2025-2026
  • Spark innovation and technology adoption – 2026-2028
  • Measure success and adjust – 2024-2028
  • Evaluate and scale up – from 2028 onwards
