Data-based reporting: Estonian Tax and Customs Board

Machine-readable data can already be transferred to the Tax and Customs Board for several services. Income and social tax returns and value added tax returns can be sent via X-tee. 177 companies have the capability to transfer data through the X-tee interface, but unfortunately, only 5% of their customers use this option today.

In 2023, the legislation must be reviewed to analyse which amendments should be made to enable all reports to be submitted in accordance with the principles of real-time economy. It is planned to review the internal work processes of the Tax and Customs Board with the same goal in 2023.

In addition, a prototype of at least one new service of the Tax and Customs Board created based on the principles of real-time economy will be completed and tested during 2023. Among other things, data acceptance, processing, feedback, and confirmation will be tested. This is done in cooperation with the Information Technology Centre of the Ministry of Finance.
